Cost of Living

Alissa is a working-class mom who knows firsthand how expensive it is to raise a family in the district. She is running to make it more affordable for families to live, work, and build a future here.

  • Expanding access to affordable childcare so parents don’t have to choose between earning a living and caring for their children.

  • Supporting small businesses

  • Investing in home repair programs

  • Expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit to help create and preserve affordable housing.

While Claudia Tenney is sitting at her lake house and taking donations from billionaires, most New Yorkers are struggling to make ends meet. Alissa will take calls from her constituents, not from billionaires. 

Infrastructure 

Alissa grew up in rural Houghton, NY, a hamlet of fewer than 2,000 people. She understands firsthand how inadequate infrastructure can limit opportunity and access in rural communities.

Alissa will fight for funding to expand
bus networks, connecting even our most far-flung communities to hospitals,
trade schools, colleges, and community centers.
She will also work alongside local communities to secure federal funding to modernize water systems, repair aging infrastructure, and make the investments rural communities need to thrive.

Claudia Tenney continues to slash the funding we need to fix our communities. Alissa knows how important it is to fund our communities well into the future. 

Defending Your Rights

In Aghanistan, Alissa served alongside people from every walk of life and learned that respect isn’t something you reserve for people who look, live, or believe like you do. She believes every American deserves to live with dignity and without discrimination.

Alissa has long supported LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and equal rights for all Americans. She believes there is room in this country for everyone who wants to call it home.

On these issues, Claudia Tenney’s record is very different. Tenney voted against the final Respect for Marriage Act, which established federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriages, and she has consistently supported legislation restricting abortion. Tenney has said her vote against the marriage legislation was based on concerns about religious-liberty protections.

For the People

Alissa is running a grassroots campaign for the people who can’t afford a yacht or an equestrian class in Europe. She’s tired of watching politicians take enormous sums from the ultra-wealthy while working people struggle to get ahead.

Her focus is on the rest of us: the road crews working past midnight, the people putting in long days at the office, small business owners fighting to keep their doors open, and everyone working hard just to make ends meet.

For Alissa, public service means exactly that: service. She believes in serving her country, showing up for her community, and putting people before personal ambition. She’s not in this for herself. She’s in it to serve all of us.

Organized Labor

Alissa knows that the only defense against organized greed is organized labor. In order to secure a living wage for all Americans, we must strongly and loudly support our unions. Alissa believes in passing the PRO Act to protect workers who are organizing a union, to end right to work laws, and to prevent abuses of the “independent contractor” loophole that disenfranchises thousands of workers across the district. 

NY-24 was built by our unions. We owe it to them to fight for them like they fought for us.
