Healthcare
When Alissa beat burn-pit cancer, she did so because she had access to quality healthcare. Residents of NY-24 are more likely to suffer from cancer, diabetes, and heart disease than most Americans. Alissa knows that without healthcare, treatment can be out of reach for much of the district.
Claudia Tenney voted for the Republican budget bill that will kick 31,000 NY-24 residents off of Medicaid and close three rural hospitals. People will die. We need a congresswoman who expands access to healthcare, not one who takes it away from their constituents who need it the most.
Alissa will vote to protect and expand Medicaid coverage to make sure everyone in the district has good quality and affordable healthcare.
Cost of Living
Alissa is a working class mom, and knows exactly how expensive it can be to raise a family in the district. Alissa is running to make the district affordable, especially to families. Alissa will expand access to childcare, making sure families never have to choose between earning good wages and being a good parent. Alissa will also work to make sure to aid small businesses, invest in home repair programs, and expand the low-income housing tax credit.
While Claudia Tenney is sitting at her lake house and taking donations from billionaires, most New Yorkers are struggling to make ends meet. Alissa will take calls from her constituents, not from billionaires.
Infrastructure
Alissa grew up rural in Houghton, NY - a hamlet of less than 2,000 people. She knows that the infrastructure in our community is lacking. Alissa will secure funding to expand bus networks - allowing even those in the most far flung communities access to hospitals, trade schools, colleges, and community centers. Alissa will also work to secure funds for improvements to our water systems. Alissa will also work with all of our communities to help secure federal grants to repair and improve our infrastructure from the ground up.
Claudia Tenney continues to slash the funding we need to fix our communities. Alissa knows how important it is to fund our communities well into the future.
Defending Your Rights
Alissa fought side by side with people from all walks of life in Afghanistan and treated all of them with kindness and respect. Alissa believes nobody in this country should face discrimination for who they are. Alissa has been a long time ally of LGBTQ rights, a defender of a woman’s right to choose, and a fighter against racism in all of its forms. Alissa believes there is a place for anyone who wants to call America their home.
Claudia Tenney wants to turn the clock backwards. She was the only congressperson in New York to vote against the Respect for Marriage Act, which protects the rights for gay couples to marry. Claudia is ardently anti-choice and has a history of loudly making deeply offensive comments through her social media.
NY-24 deserves someone who can unite us, not someone who spreads hate. Alissa will represent everyone in her district, because that’s what a public servant does.
For the People
Career politicians like Claudia Tenney receive millions of dollars in support from big corporations while some of the hardest working people in the district worry about paying their bills every month. Claudia has taken money from big banks, massive health insurance companies like United Healthcare, and venture capital firms that buy out and gut local employers. Claudia Tenney is not pro-growth, she’s pro-billionaire.
Alissa is running a grassroots campaign focused on the people who can’t afford a yacht or to take an equestrian class in Europe. She is frankly disgusted by the amount of money some politicians accept from the ultra-wealthy. Alissa is focused on helping the rest of us, the crews fixing our roads who work well past midnight, the people who spend all day cramped in their office, the small business owners struggling to stay open, and all the people struggling in between.
Alissa believes in serving her country and helping her community, she’s not in this for her - she’s in this for all of us.
